ABANDON ALL HOPE, ALL YE WHO ENTER!

Because we as a mortal species cannot look onto the other side, we conceptualize the idea of the afterlife in a variety of ways. For every person you meet, you may think you'll find the same interpretation twice, but in actuality, everyone's interpretation is different somehow. We like to think we know, but we don't. That's the bliss of it, and we explore this concept in our other pages about heaven and hell as well.

We can never truly know where we go when we die. Is it dictated by what we do when we're alive, or is it predetermined for us at birth? We can never know until its time for us to go. However, what we ask ourselves today is this: What happens in between life and death?

I personally believe, from my own research, (however, take this only as my opinion) that it is to be infered that we are taken somewhere we can rest until our mind or psyche can move on. Our body dies, but the soul and mind may stay on earth as to provide an easier ride above or below. If you've ever seen movies where a ghost haunts a place / object for a while but leaves once an objective is completed, that's kind of what I'm talking about. There's business we need to tend to on earth before we can fully move on to eternal bliss or torment.

All we can hope is that the transition is easy for us. If you've passed on from old age, you've got everything laid out for you pretty much. But I can't imagine the same can be said for anyone dying of unnatural causes. Essentially, you'd have to come to terms with how you died, who killed you, etc. not a simple job, especially if it's not something you remember. (Which, isn't a simple thing, if you've read up on our Near Death Experiences page.)
